Four Main Steps to Success

Have you ever wondered what the Steps to Success Are?

Many people have different answers to this question:

“What are the Steps to Success?”

I have my own response to that. Now, this is not the absolute answer,

mind you, as what works for me may not necessarily work for everyone  else.

Based on my various life experiences, however, over many years as a student,

a teacher, a headteacher, a leader, a business owner, and a mother,

these four steps have always led to my various life successes.

Step 1. Decide What it is You Want To Do. What is Your Vision?

To start with, you need to have seriously considered what it is that you

REALLY want to do, and what it is that you want to be the end result.

That will be your goal – that is, the end result.

So, start off by figuring out what it is that you really want to

achieve after you have worked hard in a process.

Without having the end-result (goal) mapped out clearly in your mind,

you are not going to know what necessary steps to take to get to your goal.

Step 2: Plan – Set Your Goal.

The S M A R T Goal setting process.

S =Set a specific goal – one goal at a time to avoid confusion

M=Measurable goal – measured by your success

A= Achievable goal – something within the reach of your qualifications skills

R = Realistic goal – you are realistic about what you can actually achieve.

T= Time scale: time-related. Say, within 3 months, 6 months, etc.

So, now that you have a goal, say, to find a job within 3 months of your

Graduation from University, and start earning say, £25,000 per year,

what steps will you be taking to achieve your goal?

Notice how specific this goal is:

i: Find a Job – specific goal

ii: Within 3 months -time limit

iii: Earn at least £25,000 – specific salary.

These specific details and the time limit help to create

momento in you. It helps to get you “off your bum” so,

to speak , and get you started on finding answers to your specific needs.

Step 3: Take Action:  Find the Resources You Need to Succeed.

You have now set your goal, your time scale, and your expected income.

So, where do you begin to make your dream come true?

Do some research.

One way would be to search for Jobs online, on Google, for example,

and see where, specifically, you would need to put your CV in order

for Employers to find you.

Or, you may find, on looking online, that there are jobs that meet

your qualifications and salary scale and all you need is to send in your application.

If you get called for an interview, great, you are on your way to achieving your goal!

Find a Mentor or A Coach To Guide You

Finding a Mentor or A Coach can help you move faster in achieving your goal.

If you are struggling to set the right goals or find the right resources,

you can look for a Coach or a mentor to help you map out your steps.

A Success Coach will not only help you clarify your goals and also help

you find the resources you need to achieve those goals, he or she

will be there to hold you accountable.. This means, you will have to take

the specific steps needed for you to achieve your goal, so,

procrastination will no longer be your problem.

Notice the several aspects to step 3.

-Find resources that will help you, you must take the necessary action, like

going on Google to search for jobs or hiring a Coach or Mentor.

– Write a relevant CV that will show your qualifications and your skills

– Prepare yourself for an interview.

Within this step, you may find it easier to use the service of a Mentor or a

Coach, or even a friend who has succeeded in doing what you want to do.

Step 4: Success and Positive Reinforcement

Celebrate and Solidify Your Success.

Now you have achieved your goal, do you sit still and just enjoy?

Yes, to some extent!. Celebrate Your Success. This is extremely important.

It is important to be happy and to celebrate the success you have achieved.

But, at the same time, you must solidify your success by looking at

more ways to improve yourself.

In other words, look into the possibility of scaling your success

to higher levels within the near future..

Positive Reinforcement has a way of helping people move faster up the ladder of success.

When you are happy with what you have achieved, you are much more motivated

to seek out new or higher goals for you to tackle and conquer!

Your 5 Steps to Success are:

  1. Decide What You want to do: have a vision
  2. Goal: Set yourself a S. M. A. R. T. Goal
  3. Action: Map Out the Steps and find the Resources You need.
